Those of you who have been visiting here for a while know I can’t go more than a few months withouth changing the layout of the page. I just get bored.
Thanks to the incredible impact that the Christian Gamers Blog has had on the intarwebs (yes, I’m being sarcastic, but seriously, the CGB now accounts for more than a quarter of the hits I get everyday) I’ve decided that the CGB has to have it’s own “look” and thanks to the latest round of updates to squarespace that’s possible by making a few tweaks to the CSS code. Ok, actually my CSS has had a huge overhall to make it look like this, but I’m pretty psyched about how it’s turned out.
I’m hoping this new look will stick for a while.
HT to Nollind Whachell for the tips on how to tweak the CSS code

i like the new layout for your posts. the colors are easier on the eyes and makes it generally easier to read. i’m not sure i like the two navigation bars located off to the right… a bit cumbersome, maybe? (same goes for the cgb.) perhaps put them on either side of your posts, or just have 1 long nav bar?

yeah man, loving the changes (have you NOTICED i change my template every other day it seems?) but i was kind of wondering why everything is floating to the left, and it looks like the background wants it all centered?

Thanks for the input Adam. It’s funny, I’ve always found the three column formats with the content in the middle cumbersome. Something about my eyes darting back and forth for navigation & links. Probably just me.
I agree that it’s not quite right though. The two nav columns seem to run into each other. Maybe if I made a more defined line separating the two instead of the fading line? Or if I gave one of the sidebars a different background color?
Joe, I did notice that about your blog. It’s just fun to fiddle, isn’t it!
Are you using Firefox? It shows up fine in internet explorer. I’ll make sure to check it out.
Thanks for the input guys. Please keep it coming!

Hah, it IS fun to tinker. I’m on a Mac using Firefox, so IE isn’t an option. I should check it out in Safari…
…ok, it looked the same in Safari, but in Camino I realized that the issue is the resolution. If I squeeze my browser in tighter, the problem goes away. So that’s what’s going on. I think that makes sense.

Ah, that does make sense. I made the background myself from a gradient file I found on Squarespace. I thought I made it wide enough, but I guess I have to make it wider.
Thanks Joe!
I added bars all the way down the nav column now. I’m not crazy about the way they dead-end at the bottom, but does it help make it feel less cumbersome? I might try having a very light grey behind just the middle column, but I’ll go with this for a couple days & see how folks like it.

Hey Mo, what you need to do is make the gradient thing the background of the table, not of the page itself. I think (really, I only think) that will fix it… it’s wide enough, it’s just that table is left aligned and the image is center aligned. You want the table (content) to be directly connected to the background. I think. =)

Thanks Joe. I’ve been fooling with it on Jenny’s Mac for the last week & finally figured out the problem last night.
Funny, our sites actually look a lot alike now.
