In Our Weakness

Sometimes it seems like no matter how hard you try there is no one around who understands.  Or if they are life gets in the way.  You can’t catch a break.  Life keeps throwing curveballs.

I wish I could tell you that it will all be alright.  That a friend is waiting.  Or if not that call a pastor, or a therapist.  Somehow though, when you are at the end of your rope those things ring hollow.  Like that person will only be there because you are in crisis, like if things weren’t so crazy your family, or friends or even therapist won’t be there.

Does it matter?

In the moment, when you are at your weakest, does it matter why they are there, or does it simply matter that they are there?  Tomorrow will take care of itself.  Maybe that friend will still be there to help you through tomorrow, maybe you will be strong enough to take care of tomorrow yourself.  For now, draw upon the strength of those around you in the tough times.

In 2nd Corithians The Bible states that when we are weak God is strong.  I always took this from the individual standpoint, that God’s greatness shines through us when we allow Him to work through our weaknesses.  I still think that is true, but I also have come to learn that when we are weak, we can truly see the strength of God in those around us as they help, guide and nurture us through tough times.

So if you are feeling weak, out of energy, at the end of your rope with nowhere to turn, don’t be afraid to draw strength from those around you, even if you don’t know where they will be tomorrow.  They are there now, take advantage.
